Hank was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers out of high school in 1970. He played for two seasons in the Dodger organization under current manager Tom Lasorda. A car accident cut the promising pitching career short, but not Hank's love for the game. He came back to Iowa, taught himself to hit left-handed, and became an all-star in the semi-pro leagues. Lucas portrayed a New York Yankee pitcher in Field of Dreams. Hank still plays organized baseball, both on the semi-pro level and in Over 30 League. He is also the coach for a local Little League team.
