16 to Life

On September 7th, there was a sneak preview of the new movie 16 to Life starring Hallee Hirsh held at the Mindframe Theaters in Dubuque. Joe Scherrman from DreamCatcher Production was on hand to celebrate the success of the film. The movie released in 5 cities in Iowa on September 10th and was meet with great success. Joe was able to renew his acquaintance with Hallee, the film’s star, Iowa native Nicholas Downs and the film's writer/director, Becky Smith. Scherrman had worked as a boom operator on this film back in the fall of 2008. The movie was filmed all on location in McGregor, IA.

The characters and actions meld into a funny, offbeat tale of an idealistic girl waiting to be kissed. The surrounding characters enrich the story set against the beautiful bluffs of the Mississippi River. Intelligent dialogue, solid acting and unexpected story lines are hallmarks of this much-better than- average movie about teens in the mid-west. And you don't want to miss the cameo by Carlson Kressley clogging for the Lord!

It was a great to get to see Iowa actor Brendan Dunphy on the big screen. Some of you may recall he played William Buetton, Private Eye in the early marketing shorts for Ghost Player. See one of them Here.
