Chisholm Road Trip: Darrin Butland's Thoughts

Amazing. This trip provided memorable moments that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I was honored to be a part of something so special. To meet so many different people and to see firsthand the positive effect you have on them, the smiles, the laughter, helping people forget about their worries or problems, well, it was overwhelming. Retracing the steps of Moonlight Graham was special as well.

The Effect the Ghost Players have on others:
Its truly magical . . . their is magic in Dyersville, Iowa (I keep telling you, Joe) and the Ghost Players are inspiring in the way they share part of that "real" magic through laughter, comedy and the great sport of baseball. I look up to the Ghost Players and admire them for their generosity in the way they give of their time as well as in the way they are always helping others. They make a difference, make others feel truly important and special. That means a lot.

How the Ghost Players have had an effect on myself:
They are individuals I sincerely look up to. The Ghost Players inspire me to reach out and to make a difference in my own life, to give more of my time to help others. In the past, I would tend to focus on the negative aspects/obstacles in my life and feel helpless or beaten. The Ghost Players are tremendous role models who have taught me by example to look at life's hurdles for what they are. I try to incorporate more humor and perspective in my life. The opportunities and friendship they have given, mean the world to me and I will be forever grateful.

Fun Moments/ Favorite Part of the Chisholm Road Trip:
Playing with the Ghost Players, meeting Veda Ponikvar, what an amazing lady and the wonderful people of Chisholm, Minnesota! Hanging out with Joe, Tom "Ned" "Ironman" Wickham, wearing the NY Giants uniform of Doc Moonlight Graham . . . a tremendous honor. Dreams do come true! Serendipitous miracles do occur!
