DISH Network Summit Excursion - Denver CO 05.11.09
WEDNESDAY MAY 6, 2009:
3:30am – Picked up Neil Meyers at 3:30am. Good thing he had the coffee on. Drive on over to Cedar Rapids, IA Airport.
10:40am – Arrive in Denver CO to attend DISH Network Summit
12:30pm – Meet with Jim DeFranco, Executive Vice President at Echostar Satellite LLC, other executives and associates. It was a long meeting. (Lost 2 golf balls)
THURSDAY MAY 7, 2009:
Meetings all day (real meetings). REO Speed Wagon concert that night. They looked old. They looked my age. They sounded great thanks to MPG - Multimedia Presentation Group, which is run by President/Owner, Francis Collette. Had a few beers with after the show.
FRIDAY MAY 8, 2009:
Meetings again all day, but during the day I spent some time talking with CEO of Echostar Satellite, Charlie Ergan. He wasn't optimistic about getting that new baseball broadcast channel. Since I got to talk to Charlie Ergan earlier in the day, I skipped the Fundraiser for U.S. Senators Byron Dorgan (D-ND) and Ron Wyden (D-OR). Instead, Neil and I went to the Colorado Rockies vs Florida Marlins baseball game at Coors Field. In the first two innings there were 5 hits, three were home runs. Beer and the weather were cold in the Mile High City this evening.
SATURDAY MAY 9, 2009:
Meetings and a roundtable discussion with associates, executives and Jim DeFranco (Jim and Charlie are the top dogs with Echostar Satellite LLC). Brought up MLBNetwork again. The consensus was that it currently costs way too much to add this programming. Later in the day I met with Scott Hinker from the Japan Network Group. He was interested in the Ghost Player documentary movie project. We talked of the fascinating places the Ghost's performed in Japan. He was amazed and accepted the packet explaining in further detail the Ghost Player projects. Also talked with RFDTV, EWTN and other broadcasters that were present during the Dish Network Summit. Later that night was Howie Mandel. He was hilarious.
SUNDAY MAY 10, 2009:
Travel day across the USA. We made it back for a little of Mother’s Day in Dyersville, Iowa.
