The Governor and the Ghost Player
On September 23, Governor Chet Culver came to Dubuque, IA and GHOST PLAYER director Joe Scherrman drifted in from near by Dyersville, IA to shake his hand again.
They had first met back on 2007 when Culver signed the Film, Television and Video Project Promotion Program in Dubuque. The completion of the GHOST PLAYER film was achieved in part because of Scherrman's trust that “the promises made” would be “promises kept”. He has submitted all the required documentation to the state for the incentive program and is awaiting their final approval. Culver is running for re-election this fall against former Governor Terry Branstad. Both have supported film-making in the state (by reputable companies) and so the future should be bright for filmmakers once the dust settles from those who abused the program.
