Ghost Player Film Wins Two Awards at Wild Rose Film Festival

November 9, 2009 - DUBUQUE, IA

DreamCatcher Production’s movie, GHOST PLAYER: RELIVE THE MAGIC was honored late November 7th 2009, with two awards at the Wild Rose Independent Film Festival in Des Moines, Iowa. Ghost Player was one of only 35 films to be screened at the 7th annual festival. This was quite an honor given that more than 200 films were submitted for this weekend-long event.

Joe Scherrman, the film’s director/producer, was awarded a "Certificate of Distinctive Achievement" in documentary filmmaking. Scherrman was stunned when the film also won the "Best of Iowa" award. Among those cheering for Scherrman were his wife Shari and Suzie Wright, President of the Great River Film Initiative.

Films ranged in subject matter from Dubuque County’s beloved ballplayers to World War II Nazis. Parenting, drug-use, blood and puppies graced the screen at the Iowa State Historical Building.

Other films receiving multiple awards included SLICE OF PIE and THE THINGS WE CARRY. Representatives from the Great River Film Initiative hope to bring these award winning films to Dubuque’s independent film house, Mindframe Theaters.

Copies of GHOST PLAYER: RELIVE THE MAGIC and its companion book, Travels with Ghosts and Other Tales, may be purchased at Scherrman’s Brand Source near Dyersville or in Dubuque at the Vistors’ Welcome Center and River Lights 2nd Edition-both of which are located on Main Street. You may also purchase these items through the Ghost Player website:

Future projects for DreamCatcher Productions include wedding and event productions, training/corporate videos and more Iowa-based documentaries. Scheduling of some of their projects are pending based on the future of the Iowa Tax Credit Incentives.
