Field of Dreams Ghost Player Writing Contest Details

The book, Traveling with Ghosts and Other Tales, is a celebration of the Ghost Players and the Field of Dreams that was commissioned as a companion to the Field of Dreams Ghost Players documentary. The book features images of the Ghost Players and fans who have fulfilled the 1989 movie's prophesy that "e;if you build it, they will come."e; The book also features stories by players and fans that went to see the “Ghosts” while on tour throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan.

The stories from the book are a compellation of Ghost Players stories collected from team players, families, and fans. In order to obtain the fan voices DreamCatcher Productions has created a writing contest that will continue through April 15, 2009. Please contact Suzie at for contest rules and guidelines.

Top prize for the writing contest will include $100 in cash. All entrants will be given two tickets to the April 21, 2009 rough-cut screening of the Field of Dreams Ghost Players documentary, which will take place at Mindframe Theaters, in Dubuque, IA. Selected excerpts of the book will be read after the documentary screening.

The date of the screening was selected to honor the 20th anniversary national release of the Field of Dreams movie starring Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones and Amy Madigan.

FIELD OF DREAMS GHOST PLAYERS has received support from The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, and is funded-in-part-by grants from the Iowa Community Cultural Grant Program (Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs) and the Historical Resource Development Program (Historical Society of Iowa). Additional support comes from the Targeted Industries Internship Program (Iowa Department of Economic Development), and an endowment of $10,000 exists with The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque for the project.
